Former Circuit and Chancery Clerk, Wayne Myrick, announces his candidacy for Chancery Clerk in the Aug. 4 primary.
Myrick, a lifelong resident of the Shady Grove/Matthews community, went to Shady Grove, West Jones, JCJC, NCO Military Academy, USM, and received his Accounting degree from University of Mississippi.
Myrick, a 33-year veteran of the Army\Air National Guard, serves as an Administrative Clerk with the 172nd Airlift Wing in Jackson. He is a graduate of the Advanced NCO Military Leadership School. Locally, he is a longtime member of Laurel’s American Legion Post 11.
Wayne’s lifelong church family is Pleasant Home Baptist Church in the Soso/Matthews community. He is a member of Laurel Sertoma Club, holds a lifetime membership in the JCJC Alumni Association. Also, he holds a lifetime membership in the West Jones BEST Club and was a former West Jones Booster Club member for many years.
Myrick’s whole working career has been in government service. As an Accountant, he served as a senior Auditor for the State Auditor’s Office for 12 years. His work as a state auditor included auditing Chancery Clerk offices, plus the books of all other county courthouse offices throughout Mississippi.
Myrick served eight years as Circuit Clerk and as Chancery Clerk, serving four years. “I shall always be humbled and grateful to have served as your Circuit and Chancery Clerk. I’m proud of Jones County and I remain committed to you, the great people of Jones County. One of the things I enjoyed most was being in a position to help people and their families when they need help.”
During the past 14 years, Myrick has officially served as a Court Appointed Conservator in a case for the Jones County Chancery Court, an appointment from the Chancery Judge.
